Claiming from a deposit
You raise a claim with evidence and support decides it; a host never takes money from a deposit themselves, and the renter always reads the reason.
A deposit is held on the renter's card, not paid to you, and you cannot draw on it. What you can do is raise a claim with evidence, and support decides it.
Raise it while the hold is live
The hold is released after the trip, once you have had a chance to check the vehicle. That window is what it is for. Check the car when it comes back rather than the following week.
What a claim needs
- Your photographs from the handover at the start of the trip.
- Your photographs from the return, showing the same things.
- What the listing said, where the claim rests on a house rule. Smoking is the usual one.
- A quote or a receipt where the claim is for a cost.
Without a photograph from the start of the trip, a photograph of the damage proves only that it exists, not when it happened.
What happens then
Support reviews the claim and decides. Where money is taken from a deposit it is taken against a written reason, and the renter reads that reason. There is no route by which a host settles it against the card directly.
Fines are already handled, and not by you
A speed camera passed during the trip is detected while the trip is still running, and the estimated fine is charged to the renter's card there and then. Anything the card does not cover is claimed from the deposit when the trip closes, in one claim for the whole booking. None of that is yours to raise.
Juuh holds that money until you forward the notice when it arrives by post, pays the fine from it, and returns the difference. If no notice ever comes, all of it goes back to the renter.
A fine nothing detected — a parking ticket, a toll, a camera outside the registry — has no route through the product and is settled between you and the renter directly.
A listing can carry a deposit of €0. If yours does, there is nothing to claim against.
