Vehicle eligibility
The car must be roadworthy, currently insured and registered, and in a condition you would be happy to be handed. Documents have to match the plate on the listing.
Not every car can be listed. The bar is not high, but it is firm, because the guest and the insurer both rely on it.
Requirements
- Registered and road-legal, with a current roadworthiness certificate where your country requires one.
- Currently insured, with the certificate uploaded and in date.
- Registration document in the name of the person or company listing it.
- No outstanding safety recall or known defect.
- Clean, serviced and with legal tyre tread.
Documents must agree
The plate on the listing, the plate on the registration document and the plate on the insurance certificate all have to be the same. A mismatch is the most common reason a listing is sent back.
What is not accepted
- Cars that are the subject of an unresolved insurance claim.
- Cars under a lease or finance agreement that forbids rental — check your agreement, since it is your contract, not ours.
- Vehicles modified in ways that are not registered.
Condition
Existing cosmetic damage is fine as long as it is photographed and described on the listing. It protects you: damage that is documented before a trip cannot be attributed to it afterwards.
Keep the documents current. An expired insurance certificate stops the car being bookable until a new one is uploaded, and it lapses without warning if you are not watching for it.
