Telematics notice
Version 1.0.0 · in force from 2026-09-06
1. What this notice is
Some vehicles listed on Juuh have a location or telematics device fitted. This notice explains what data it generates, what it is used for, who can see it and what you can do. It is provided before you book, and the vehicle's listing always states whether a device is fitted. Most vehicles have none, and in that case nothing in this document applies to your trip.
Controller: Denys Romanov, sole trader, Spanish NIF/NIE Y9622163N, Juuh, legal@juuh.com, Calle Alqueria 1, 29680 Estepona, Málaga, Spain. General processing is described in the Privacy Policy.
2. What the device generates
The device is fitted by the Host to their own vehicle and transmits to Traccar, a system hosted on Juuh's own infrastructure: no third party receives position data through this channel.
Depending on the model fitted, the data may include:
- Position (latitude and longitude) and signal accuracy
- Instantaneous speed, heading and altitude
- Ignition state (on/off) and whether the vehicle is moving or stopped
- Device state (connected, out of coverage, battery level)
- Events: leaving an area the Host has drawn (geofence), a device alarm, an over-speed alert against a configured limit
- Odometer and fuel level, only where the model fitted transmits them
The reporting frequency is determined by the device and is stated in that vehicle's own notice before you book. While the vehicle is rented, the data is associated with the active booking.
3. Purposes and legal grounds
| Purpose | Legal ground | |---|---| | Confirming handover and return, and locating the vehicle when you ask us to | Performance of the contract, GDPR Article 6(1)(b): it is the function you requested | | Vehicle security and recovery in case of theft or non-return | Legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f), after a necessity and balancing assessment: protecting a valuable asset against theft or misappropriation | | Evidence in a specific incident (accident, dispute over mileage or fuel) | Legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f), limited to evidence of that specific fact; or performance of the contract where the data sets the price (mileage) |
Journeys are not used for advertising, to build a commercial profile of you, or to infer sensitive information (places of worship, healthcare facilities, trade-union premises, other people's homes).
If you do not want a vehicle with telematics, you can choose a different one: the listing says so before you book and there are vehicles without a device. A device on someone else's vehicle cannot be switched off during the rental.
4. Who sees what
| Who | What they can access | |---|---| | You, as Renter | The last known position of the vehicle you have booked, during your booking | | The Host, during your rental | Only the last known position of the vehicle, and the alerts they configured (geofence, over-speed, alarm). They do not get the history of your journey | | The Host, outside a rental | The vehicle's history for the periods when nobody had it booked | | Juuh | The full history — only staff holding the relevant permission, and only for security, theft, non-return or investigating an incident. Every access is logged | | Authorities, insurer | Only what is legally required or necessary for a specific claim |
This agreement gives the Host no unlimited right of surveillance. Seeing their vehicle while nobody has it rented is not the same as reconstructing the movements of the person who rented it, and that reconstruction is not available to the Host. In a theft or non-return the Host reports it to Juuh and to the police; Juuh is the party that accesses the history, recording the reason.
5. Technical alerts: what they are not
An over-speed alert generated by the device compares a transmitted speed with a configured limit. It is not a fine, it does not come from the traffic authority, and it can contain signal, map or driver-attribution errors.
On its own, a telematics event authorises no charge, no retention of the deposit and no permanent block. Any charge requires the basis, calculation and evidence set out in the payment terms, with an opportunity to respond and human review. A vehicle is not immobilised remotely while it is moving or in dangerous circumstances.
6. Retention and your rights
Events are kept while they are needed for the booking, for the security of the vehicle or for an open claim, and are deleted once they are not; access is restricted and logged. Where an incident turns them into evidence, only the relevant fragment is kept, for as long as the claim can be brought.
You may request access, rectification, deletion or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and ask for human review of any consequence attributed to you, by writing to legal@juuh.com. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (https://www.aepd.es).
When you book a vehicle with telematics, the fact that you received this notice is recorded. That record is informational: it is not a waiver of your rights and it does not replace the legal ground for each purpose.
