When a guest cancels
Guests can cancel from their trip, and the refund follows the terms shown at booking. Your calendar reopens for those dates automatically.
Guests cancel too, and it is a normal part of hosting. Nothing is required from you when they do.
What happens
- The booking moves to cancelled and you are notified.
- The dates reopen on your calendar for someone else to book.
- Any refund is calculated and issued by the platform under the terms shown to the guest when they booked.
You never handle the refund yourself, and you are never asked to pay one back out of your own pocket.
Late cancellations
The closer to the start of the trip, the less of the payment is refundable — the exact terms are the ones displayed on the booking, and they are visible to both sides from the moment it is confirmed. Where a cancellation charge applies, the amount due to you appears on your next payout as normal.
Filling the gap
A cancellation two days out often leaves a bookable weekend. Two things help: keeping the dates open rather than blocking them out of frustration, and a short price reduction for that window.
If a guest asks you to cancel on their behalf, decline politely and ask them to cancel from their own trip. A cancellation entered on your side is recorded as a host cancellation, whoever asked for it.
