Rules of the road, and fines

Fines dated to your trip are yours to pay, and they usually reach the vehicle’s owner by post weeks later, long after the hold on your deposit has been released.

For the dates of your trip you are the driver named on the contract. Everything that follows from that is yours.

Fines are the driver's

Speeding, parking and toll charges dated to your trip dates are yours to pay. That does not change because the notice is addressed to somebody else.

How a fine actually arrives

A camera fine is posted to the vehicle's registered owner, which is the host, and it lands weeks after the trip. By then the hold on your deposit has already been released. Juuh does not automatically recover a fine from a deposit, so what happens next is not automatic: the host is left holding a notice with your trip dates on it.

Telematics

Some vehicles on the platform are fitted with telematics. On an equipped car, passing a speed camera can generate a warning to the driver during the trip. Treat it as what it is, which is notice that a fine is on its way.

Only you drive

The contract names one driver. If somebody else was at the wheel when a fine was incurred, it is still on a booking in your name.

Keep the parking receipts and toll records from your trip. Weeks later they are the only thing separating your fine from the next renter's.

A camera passed during your trip is detected while the trip is still running, and the estimated fine is charged to your card then — not taken from the deposit weeks later, because by then both the hold and the authorisation have lapsed. Juuh keeps that money until the notice arrives by post, pays it, and returns the difference. If no notice ever comes, you get all of it back. A fine nothing detected is settled between you and the host directly.
